Aftercare

Once your hair restoration procedure is complete at Westminster Medical Group, we will provide you with everything you need to look after your newly implanted hairs during your week of recovery.

It will take between 6 – 12 months for your new hair to grow, although visible changes to your hair can be noted much earlier on. Once all your hairs have grown in by the 12 month mark, you will see continued maturation of the hair quality and texture up until 14 – 18 months post-op until the final result can be observed.

Following your procedure, it’s important to relax during the first few days to ensure your newly implanted follicles settle in correctly, and grow undisturbed. Please follow the hair transplant aftercare instructions tightly, as outlined by your surgeon.

We encourage you to keep us updated on your growth progress, and attend your follow up appointments at 6 and 12 months, so that we can monitor your growth progress.

Once the hair transplant procedure is complete, and the initial healing and recovery stages are over, it can take upto 3 – 4 months before your follicles start growing again. Your new hair growth is usually coarse, wiry and wispy at first and might look a little uneven, but you will soon be growing fuller and thicker hair back in the months after the initial shed phase following your hair transplant procedure.

Most patients reach full natural hair growth around the 11 – 12 month mark following their procedure, though every patient’s results and recovery time is different as each person’s physiology differs with recovery and regrowth time frame.

It is very important to follow the aftercare instructions as detailed by the surgeon to ensure proper healing and optimal results. It is also important to have realistic expectations for the timeline of the healing and growth process, as it may take 1-2 weeks to fully heal and up to 12 months until the final growth of your hair transplant can be observed. Following this period the hair transplant will continue to mature up to 18 months following your procedure.
