Scalp Micro Pigmentation
Scalp Micro Pigmentation (SMP) is an innovative non-surgical hair loss solution performed at our Harley Street clinic in London. SMP treatment visually improves the density for those with little to no hair. It can also create a thickening effect for longer hair by directly darkening the scalp.
SMP stands for Scalp MicroPigmentation which deposits medical grade pigment into the upper dermal layer of the skin. At Westminster Medical Group we use gamma sterilised pigmentation ink combined with a 3 micron precision needle to accurately simulate short shaved follicles throughout your scalp.
You will need between 3-4 sessions to complete your treatment, typically spaced 7-10 days apart to achieve the colour, tone and density you are looking for.
Our treatment specialist will measure and approve each design with you before any pigment is applied. For example, you may wish for a very low defined hairline, but we often advise starting with a softer natural look, taking into account your facial features and age appropriateness.
Patients suffering with scarring alopecia, alopecia areata or trauma scars can also benefit from SMP treatment. SMP can also compliment the visual density of previous hair transplant surgery or scarring.
BENEFITS OF SMP
Non-surgical alternative to hair restorative surgery
Complimentary addition for previous hair transplant surgery
Enables you to conceal trauma or burn scarring
Viable treatment for various autoimmune hair loss conditions
Simple aftercare and minimal downtime recovery
